What are some dog foods that are similar to life abundance?

There are a few dog foods that are similar to life abundance. These include Taste of the Wild, Blue Buffalo, and Wellness. All of these brands have a variety of flavors and textures that will appeal to a variety of dog breeds. All of these brands also have a high-quality ingredients list, which is important for dogs that are prone to allergies.

While the top five ingredients of a given dog food provide the consumer with insight into a pet food maker's nutritional priorities, they do not tell the entire story; every ingredient is important, which is why we provide a comparison based on seven different quantitative measures.Furthermore, the secret to superior pet food is in the formula itself - not only in the ingredients, but also in their proportions to one another.

The importance of the ratios cannot be overstated; we have always emphasized the importance of synergism, or the interaction of ingredients, because proper proportions help to maximize the nutritional impact of a formula. As with any recipe, the wrong ratios will yield very different results.

With quality ingredients that work together to create a synergistic effect, you can be confident that you're giving your companion animal the best.

I'm currently feeding Life's Abundance to my dog from healthypetnet.com.

Great stuff...I think it's the best I've ever heard.

However, I'm looking for something in a store that might be cheaper to buy (the shipping and handling is what really kills the value). I have a PetCo nearby, but there's also a PetSmart not far from where I work.

Price isn't an issue, but I'd prefer to spend no more than $50.00-$60.00 for a 40 pound bag.

The following are the ingredients for Life's Abundance:
Natural Flavors, Flax Seed Meal, Egg Product, Catfish Meal, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, L-Lysine, Carrots, Apples, Canola Oil, Alfalfa Leaf Meal, Celery, Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product, Lactobacillus Casei Fermentation Product, Bifido Bacterium Fermentation Product, Enterococcus Faecium Fermentation Product

I looked through some online listings but couldn't find anything comparable to what I could find in a physical store.

Read the stickies at the top of the page about rating dog food in the food sub-forum here on the board.

Petsmart does not sell premium foods because they manufacture their own and prefer to avoid competition. Petco in my area does sell a few premium foods.Natural Balance has always been available, and I recently noticed some Wellness brand foods.

Please conduct your research in the food forum and follow some of the links to other sites that analyze dog food; there are many good products in your price range. However, you may need to do some additional research on who carries them in your area; the simplest way is to go to the product website, which usually has a feature that helps you find a retailer in your area.

Okay, I might need a little more assistance than that, because your post confuses the hell out of me.

I'm posting this in the dog food subforum; I'm not sure if there is a sub-subforum for dog food, but if there is, I can't find it.

Second, the only two stickies at the top of this forum are about the dog food recall and a dog food calculator, neither of which I find particularly useful.

My post was a fairly simple question: are there recommended foods at either of those stores that meet the Life Abundance quality? Someone here must have some suggestions without trying to send me back to the Internet.Obviously, if I found out about Life Abundance, I've already done that; I'm just having trouble finding quality food in a regular store.

I have yet to find a high-quality dry food at Petsmart, PetSupermarket, or Petco.

I recently switched my dogs from Science Diet to Canidae - I had to go to their website to find a local distributor, but thankfully there is a pet shop near my office that carries this food.I looked into several types of food and this one came out on top for me.I'll look for the ingredients and post them here for you.

If you can find Merrick or Blue in one of those stores, those are the only ones I've found that the chain stores carry.

The following are the ingredients in the Canidae dry:

All Natural Ingredients
Chicken Meal, Turkey Meal, Brown Rice, White Rice, Lamb Meal, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Herring Meal, Flax Seed, Sun Cured Alfalfa Meal, Sunflower Oil, Chicken, Lecithin, Monocalcium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Linoleic Acid, Rosemary Extract, Sage Extract, Dried Enterococcus Faecium, Dried

Most of us consider Canidae to be a high-quality product, and if the following retailers sell it, they most likely sell other high-quality products as well. This is from the Canidae website's store locator, stores near KC...

I'd call first to see if they carry additional brands and have samples.

I recommend Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, which costs $29.99 for 35 pounds and is the most affordable holistic food. The ingredients in Chicken Soup are more similar to those in Life's Abundance; here is the ingredient list for their Large Breed adult food:

Chicken, turkey, chicken meal, cracked pearled barley, whole grain brown rice, oatmeal, millet, white rice, ocean fish meal, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), potatoes, tomato pomace, duck, salmon, egg product, flaxseed, natural chicken flavor, choline chloride, glucosamine hydrochloride, dried chicory root, chondroitin sulfate, kelp, carrots, peas,

Here's their website, which includes a store locator; it's typically available in small pet stores and feed supply stores.
