Workers?Do you tip dog daycare workers?

There is no universal answer to this question as it depends on the country, the culture, and the individual dog daycare worker. In some countries, tipping is not customary and is not expected, while in other countries tipping is almost mandatory. Some dog daycare workers may receive tips based on the quality of care provided, while others may not. Some dog daycare workers may also receive tips based on the number of hours worked. Ultimately, it is up to the individual dog daycare worker as to whether or not they accept tips.

Hello and welcome to The Barker Lounge of

East Charlotte, NC

...where we're confident you'll find our pet care program to be unlike any other! Our goal is to provide our guests with a healthy means of socialization, exercise, and stimulation, while also striving to improve the lives of every single dog and owner with whom we come into contact!

About Us...

Caitlin and Russ Owens are the owners of The Barker Lounge - Charlotte and East Charlotte. We've both lived in the Queen City for eight years and met at the dog park! Our dogs brought us together and laid the groundwork for our relationship.We adore what we do and treat every dog that walks through our doors as if they were family; we look forward to demonstrating how enthusiastic we are about your canines!nbsp;

Busta, an eight-year-old Shiba Inu, and Buddy, a six-year-old hound mix rescue, are inseparable at home and love to run around the yard and play with ANY toy that squeaks.nbsp;

We can't wait to show you how much we care about all dogs and how that translates to your experience at each of our Barker Lounges!nbsp;

What Barker Lounge Customers are Saying...

Loki...just thinking about The Barker Lounge sends him into a frenzy!

Dear Barker Peeps-
This has to be the best place ever invented; I've never been able to get Scout to leave without picking him up and carrying him to the car since day one.What do you do in there? Doggie crack? Voodoo? Dance party? Amazing gourmet treats? My dog is depressed because he isn't with you right now.I believe he has a good life at our house, but we must be doing something wrong...

Keep doing whatever you're doing there, but maybe you can tell him it's okay to go home after a day of play? Clearly, he doesn't believe me!

My dog was very excited to go, which hasn't happened anywhere else, so I'm very pleased with your services. The Barker Lounge is more low key and authentic than another facility in the area.I love knowing that my dog is in a happy place because the staff is made up of true "crazy dog people" in the best sense, rather than corporate people who work in a dog boarding facility.

I interviewed other facilities before selecting The Barker Lounge.nbsp; It's head and shoulders above all the others. I've always worried and fretted whenever I had to leave my dog somewhere.Those days are over, and I can now leave knowing my little girl is in excellent hands.This place is a godsend, and I'm going to tell everyone about it.

I adore the Barker Lounge because it is convenient, reasonably priced, has a super friendly staff that is accommodating and knowledgeable, and so on.I can't say enough good things about Nanook's time there; it makes me happy to know he's in good hands, gets to hang out with other huskies, and gets to play all day.Thank you!!

Hello Barker Lounge! Thank you so much for taking such good care of our Tyson yesterday; he was so energetic when he got home and I kept asking him if he liked The Barker Lounge and he just wagged his tail and gave me a bunch of kisses - I'll take that as a YES!!Your staff is wonderful, and your facility is fantastic - VERY CLEAN!! I was very impressed with the tour, and your kennel area was fantastic! We will definitely see you VERY soon!

Dear Barker Lounge, For almost a year now, our Brittany "Ruby" has spent wonderful days at Barker Lounge; we can tell her it's a "Barker" day in the morning and she looks at her chain to get ready to go.Barker Lounge is run by very capable, dog-loving people who allow the dogs to play and socialize in a safe environment. It's great to pick up a happy and tired "Barker Girl" after work.I can't thank Barker Lounge enough for being such an important part of our dog's early socialization skills and for making sure she's ready for our day at work.

I can't express how grateful I am that you were able to provide Lily (our basset hound) with a warm, safe home during the power outages caused by Superstorm Sandy; you gave us peace of mind and Lily love and affection during a difficult time.I honestly don't know what we would have done if you hadn't been able to take her, but we are so grateful that you provided us with the best solution; please accept our heartfelt gratitude.nbsp;

I'd like to thank you for hiring an exceptional staff and cultivating a caring and aware environment for the dogs at The Barker Lounge; the staff noticed Reilly wasn't herself before I did.They informed me that she was allergic and less playful, and that she has food intolerances.Without your staff alerting me to the problem, Reilly could have suffered for much longer. I am SO THANKFUL you provide the service you do.Continue your excellent work!! Many thanks!

I was stranded on my vacation due to the weather, and Willow was being boarded; I called Barker Lounge, and they quickly put me at ease, telling me they would take care of her for as long as needed, and she was very happy playing with all her friends; they even had extra treats and food for her if needed.When I got home, she was such a happy tired out pup! I honestly believe she was more disappointed than I was that the vacation was over!!! Thank you Barker Lounge, you guys are the BEST!!!!

They are attentive to your dog's needs, allowing first-timers-both dog and owner-to gradually adjust, and they are by far the best boarding/daycare facility that I have ever taken my dogs to.I would highly recommend this place to anyone because you can leave knowing your dogs are in good hands.

This is the ONLY doggie day care facility where my dog barks with delight to get out of the car and enter; that is priceless.He's been to a few and always puts the breaks on everywhere else.

I wish more things in life could run as smoothly and happily as they do at Barker Lounge! Calls are returned, e-mails are answered, and most importantly, our shih tsu Buster is always returned to us healthy and happy.

If you're looking for a place to board your dog or just want to make sure they're getting enough exercise, look no further than the Barker Lounge! The staff is friendly and truly cares about your dog.We struggled to find a place to board our dog Kade because so many were either too expensive or had too many add-ons to ensure he wasn't in a cage all day. Barker is an incredible value for the price and truly wants to do what is best for your dog.When pet parents in the neighborhood ask where we board our dogs, I recommend Barker Lounge; I am so glad we found them; it makes for a worry-free time when we are away.

The only day care/kennel we trust... We've had our dogs stay at the Barker Lounge several times and have always had positive experiences with them.Unlike most other boarding facilities, we know they truly care about their dogs; the staff is friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable, and our dog always has a good time.

Wouldn't take my dog anywhere else but the Barker Lounge! The Barker Lounge facility and staff are by far the best! I wouldn't think of leaving my four-year-old chocolate lab anywhere else. He's been boarded there several times and attends daycare, and I can say that we've had nothing but positive experiences.The staff is very caring, and you get the impression that they know and love your dog. I know my dog is in good hands when he is there, which gives me peace of mind when we are away from him.

This is a long overdue acknowledgement and thanks for essentially saving Mason's life in April. I believe he would have developed bloat at some point in his exuberant life, and if it had happened when anyone else was in charge (including me), he would not have survived.We are so grateful that you noticed what was going on and immediately got him to a wonderful vet, Dr. Tucker.It's been about six weeks and he's almost back to his old puppy self, so we'll be paying him a visit later this month for a fun day.Thank you forever, and I hope to see you soon!

Our dog JT is a small rambunctious Cocker Spaniel with an endless supply of energy (the entire Barker Lounge staff can attest to that!). We love him to death, but sometimes we can't keep up, so we bring him to the Barker Lounge to play with his doggie buddies.The Barker Lounge staff is incredible, and they absolutely love and attend to every dog that walks through the door; by the end of the day, when we come to pick him up, he is exhausted and sleeps for the next day or two before he is ready for his next trip back to visit his friends.It is easy to get to on the way to and from work (near the parkway entrance/exit) and is reasonably priced.

The Barker Lounge never disappoints! The service and care provided by the staff is always top notch- and Simba appears to really like her friends; when she first started coming, she was quite timid and tentative; now she runs right in.Thank you again.

LOVE this place! my dog can't get enough!! i LOVE the barker lounge. my dog wants to go every single day! he sits at my feet while i'm getting ready to go to work and howls at me and when i go to leave he runs around the house until i bring him! he PULLS me into the door and can't get enough of the place! i love the matted floors that they have inside the place and the new turfThe staff is wonderful, and they are always happy to see my dog when he walks in; I have boarded him there without issue, and they even washed his bed before returning it to me! Highly recommended!!!!!!

Our dog is an older gentleman, and we were concerned about his absence from us; however, the staff at Barker's Lounge went above and beyond to accommodate him, including providing him with his own play room to sleep in due to his arthritis, so he wouldn't have to deal with the stairs.I also knew he'd be depressed and eat poorly, so they put canned chicken in his food to get him to eat.We were also told that when he was bathed on the last day, he was carried up and down the stairs, and that the staff at Barker's Lounge went above and beyond to care for our boy.We would highly recommend Barker's Lounge to anyone, and we thank you once again for providing us with peace of mind.

We just wanted to thank you so much for taking such good care of our little Ginger; it meant so much to us knowing that you were there providing a wonderful 'home away from home' while we were away.She adored you as much as we know you adored her; thank you for being so thoughtful.

Mornings used to break my heart because Buddy, my beautiful golden retriever, seemed to know I was leaving him for a long, lonely day, and he would watch my every move as I dressed for work.I always felt bad leaving him at home for 10 hours because his big, sad eyes would follow me around the room.I had to come home after a long day on my feet and walk him, even though it wasn't enough exercise to satisfy his needs; he would wake me up all night - 2 a.m. wake up calls to play or go outside for a walkThen I discovered The Barker Lounge, and I met Jason at a few different dog events throughout the summer and fall of 2008.I was impressed by his gentle demeanor and the fact that he seemed to enjoy dogs; bringing my boy to The Barker Lounge was the best decision I ever made.Buddy runs out to the car every morning and refuses to leave when I pick him up! He is so tired that he falls asleep before I have even changed out of my work clothes! Knowing he is safe, loved, and occupied during my long days gives me such peace of mind.This dog has enriched my life so much - don't I have the same responsibility to enrich his? The staff is fantastic, and they quickly recognized Buddy as a "people" dog, lavishing him with so much love that it almost feels like I'm bringing him to his second home every day.He's never been happier, and I've never been happier.

The Barker Lounge is cool, clean, professional, and friendly, and our very active dog Sally has a great time there both at doggie day care and when boarding.When she gets home, she is not clingy at all, but happy and tired from all the playing! We wouldn't take her anywhere else. Thank you, Barker Lounge.

No dog should be without a loving home, according to the BARKER LOUNGE®.

To that end, we are currently collaborating with local rescue groups to find good homes for the countless pets in need.nbsp;Please check back frequently to learn about which rescue groups and dogs we are collaborating with.

Many thanks to all of the rescue organizations for their tireless efforts!nbsp;The true reward is meeting these wonderful pets and watching them leave to begin their new lives with loving families.

What should you tip a dog sitter?

Pet sitters don't make much money for the time and effort they put into pet care, and many clients tip their sitters, which isn't required but greatly appreciated.As a general rule, I would tip between 10% and 20%, or whatever amount you feel comfortable with.between 10-20% or any amount you feel comfortable with.

Is it customary to tip a dog trainer?

Do you usually tip dog trainers? No, it's not expected, but it's always appreciated.No, not usually. Tipping isn't expected — but it's always appreciated.

Do you tip your veterinarian?

Instead of tipping your vet, consider a nice basket of chocolate-dipped fruit, cookies, or simply a thank you note to staff if your pet has been in on a regular basis.! That would be like tipping your healthcare provider. Instead, consider a nice basket of chocolate-dipped fruit, cookies, or just a thank you note to staff if your pet has been in on a regular basis.
